Sharon Wiles

Honorary Counsellor working with clients in Clapham and Online

Shaz, as she prefers to be known, is studying for her CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling after completing her CPCAB Level 2 and Level 3 Counselling Skills/Studies in 2023, all at Spurgeon’s College in South Norwood and now progressing her journey as an Honorary Counsellor with EASE Wellbeing.

Shaz spent 34 years as a civil servant working with senior civil servants and ministers, giving her the experience of working with people from all walks of life.  After retiring and leaving the hustle and bustle of city life, she became a Listening Volunteer for Croydon and Sutton Samaritans being inspired by other volunteers.  Shaz found that supporting her callers, many with diverse and complex issues (including suicide) a very rewarding experience and is also an active member of the leadership team, the training team, a mentor, and an online chat volunteer. This bestowed a deep desire to empower others to reach their full potential, leading her to retrain as a counsellor.

She has developed a special interest in helping young men and people from minority backgrounds wanting them to understand and access the power of counselling.  She also is passionate about empowering those who have experienced domestic abuse.

As an integrative counsellor, Shaz is primarily humanistic but uses several different approaches in her practice, strongly believing that we have it within ourselves to grow and reach our full potential given the right conditions and that her role is to provide an empathic, safe, non-judgemental space for her clients walking alongside them on their path to reaching that potential.
