Ease Wellbeing

Patsy Winters

Honorary Counsellor working with clients in Clapham

As a person-centred counsellor I will offer my clients a safe place where they can be their true self, talk openly and honestly and are able to reflect on their concerns and challenges to ultimately find a way to heal, grow and develop in their own time

I will be empathic, non-judgemental and honest. That means I will not give unsolicited advice nor lecture my clients as to what to do, nor will I judge them. I will not steer the client towards a particular way of thinking or expect anything from them other than their presence.  I know that creating a safe space and providing confidential support enables clients to gain so much from the therapeutic relationship to help them mend.

I am in my final year of my diploma as a person-centred counsellor. I am studying with Lewisham Counselling and Counselling Training Associates, in South London, accredited by the Britain Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have experience of working with clients with addictions and  have attended training courses to learn and understand more to support addicts within the therapeutic relationship.

I have volunteered as a Listener at the charity The Listening Place for three years. I provide face to face support to people who have suicidal thoughts and fears. I listen to them in a safe and secure place where they can talk openly. Whilst this is not counselling, it is similar, and I have learnt a great deal.

I previously worked for over 30 years as a senior policy advisor in the Civil Service, working as part of a team to develop government policy and drafting briefings for ministers. Changing career to become a counsellor has been a major step for me but one that feels absolutely right.  I am happy to tap into my life experiences to provide the most comprehensive support as a counsellor.
